Lt Col Rick “Tank” Tindal, USAF (Ret.)

Rick Tindal is a retired U.S. Air Force fighter pilot with 30 years of distinguished military service. A Florida native, he began his military career by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after high school. Following his Marine Corps service, Rick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Florida and was soon commissioned into the U.S. Air Force. Over the next 23 years, he served as a fighter pilot and instructor, training U.S. and allied pilots around the world.

While stationed in Europe, Rick was introduced to insulated composite concrete form (ICCF) construction—a building method commonly used across the continent but largely unfamiliar in the United States. Captivated by its structural strength, energy efficiency, and long-term resilience, Rick immediately recognized ICCF’s potential as a transformative material for the American housing industry.

Upon retiring from the Air Force, Rick returned to the Phoenix area, where he had been stationed twice at Luke Air Force Base and where he had met his wife. Together, they built their own ICCF home from the ground up—handling every phase of construction themselves, from digging the basement footings to placing the final roof tile.

As one of the original founders of Eco Building Systems Corp, Rick brought both vision and technical expertise to the organization. A trained computer-aided drafting (CAD) designer, he has played a central role in designing and building ICCF custom homes since the company’s inception. With more than 25 years of hands-on experience in ICCF installation, Rick has contributed to every facet of the system’s development—from on-site construction and fabrication to product engineering and factory operations.

Today, Rick continues to lead ICCF training programs for contractors and owner-builders alike, sharing his deep knowledge and passion for sustainable, resilient construction with the next generation of builders.

Behind Every Block Is a Team That Builds It

Before The Perfect Block ever reaches our customers, it’s brought to life by an incredible team. This is the crew that mixes, molds, lifts, and loads—turning raw materials into the high-performance blocks we proudly stand behind.
They’re not just workers—they’re craftsmen, problem-solvers, and the backbone of our operation. Without them, there’s no block. No product. Just an idea waiting to take shape.
This is our manufacturing team. The people who make it real.

Our Committed Belief In Green Building Philosophy

Our Committed Belief In Green Building Philosophy

For all of us at Eco Building Systems, it’s not only about creating a disaster resistant building material that can help save lives or helping to reduce our clients’ energy bills by 50% or more, but also about a committed belief in doing what we can to make this world a better place to live with fresher air and a lasting ecosystem WITH MOTHER EARTH.

As the price of commodities continues to increase, it is a financial benefit to make our homes and buildings more energy efficient. Additionally, with the understanding that nearly two-thirds of our earth’s original forest cover is gone, it is evident that wood is not the sustainable choice for the future of our planet.

Acknowledging the above, and the idea that we needed to create an energy-efficient, alternative building solution that would help preserve our critical forests, decrease our dependence on natural resources, and significantly reduce overall CO2 footprint; we had to take smart measures and make a difference.

Over 95% of all ICF / ICCF manufacturers on the market today continue to use virgin (manufactured) EPS for their insulating forms, yet Eco Building Systems has refused to adopt this practice. We have chosen to exclusively utilize 100% recycled EPS in each and every product we make.

Take The Challenge

We challenge all manufacturers in the U.S. and around the world to compare the short-term benefits of their current manufacturing materials and processes with the long-term environmental impact. We hope that other manufacturers will adopt a more sensible use of manufacturing materials and processes. Every day at EBS, we make every effort to develop new environmentally-friendly and alternative solutions.
